Little Monkeys

Let's explore this space:
In Little Monkeys, children aged 2–3 learn through play, exploration and supportive interactions with practitioners. Our environment provides opportunities across all seven area of the Early Years Foundation Stage, with activities adapted to each child’s interests, abilities and stage of development. The three Prime Areas continue to form the foundations for learning, while the four Specific Areas introduce children to a wider range of knowledge and experiences .
Communication and Language

Stories, songs, conversations and imaginative play help children develop their listening, understanding and vocabulary. Practitioners model new words and encourage children to express their needs, ideas and feelings.

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

A warm and consistent environment helps children feel safe, confident and valued. Children are supported to recognise emotions, make choices, become more independent and begin sharing, cooperating and forming friendships.

Physical Development

Indoor and outdoor activities help children strengthen their balance, coordination and body control. Climbing, running, building, mark-making and using small tools develop the gross and fine motor skills needed for everyday tasks.

Literacy

Children begin developing a love of books, stories, songs and rhymes. They explore pictures, join in with familiar phrases, notice environmental print and make early marks using pencils, paint and other materials.

Mathematics

Children explore numbers, shapes, sizes, patterns and quantities through everyday play. They may count objects, complete puzzles, build with blocks, sort resources and use words such as “more,” “big,” “small,” “full” and “empty.”

Understanding the World

Children investigate their surroundings using their senses and natural curiosity. They learn about their families, communities, animals, nature, different cultures and how things work through practical experiences and exploration.

Expressive Arts and Design
Music, movement, role play, painting, messy play and creative resources allow children to explore colours, textures and sounds. These experiences encourage imagination, confidence and individual expression.
