30 Hours Childcare Funding For Working Families

Ages 9 Months to 4 Years

Eligible working families may be able to access up to 30 hours of funded childcare per week, for 38 weeks of the year. This funding is available from the term after your child turns 9 months old until they start school.

Who Is Eligible?

You may be eligible if:

In a two-parent household, each parent earns at least the National Minimum Wage for 16 hours per week

In a single-parent household, the sole parent meets that same threshold

No parent has an annual income above £100,000

Applying for Funding

To apply for funded childcare, parents must apply online through the Best Start in Life / government childcare portal.

You will need to provide some personal information, such as your National Insurance number, proof of identity and your child’s birth certificate.

If your application is approved, you will be given an eligibility code. Please share this code with your nursery manager, and we will check and validate it with the local authority on your behalf.

Further information can be found on the government’s Best Start in Life – Childcare & Early Years Education website.

Reconfirming Your Eligibility

Once you have been approved for 30 hours of funded childcare, HMRC will ask you to reconfirm your details     approximately every three months through your Childcare Service account.

You should receive an email reminder when this is due. It is  important that you complete the reconfirmation on time, as this helps ensure your funded hours continue for future terms.
