Giraffes

Let's explore this space:
In Giraffes, children aged 3–5 learn through purposeful play, exploration and meaningful interactions with practitioners. Our environment provides opportunities across all seven areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage, with experiences adapted to each child’s interests, abilities and stage of development. Children are encouraged to become confident, independent learners as they prepare for their transition to school.
Communication and Language

Stories, group discussions, songs, role play and everyday conversations help children develop their listening, understanding and vocabulary. Practitioners introduce new language and encourage children to explain their ideas, ask questions and speak confidently with others.

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Children are supported to build friendships, manage their feelings and develop confidence and independence. They learn to take turns, cooperate with others, follow routines, solve simple disagreements and understand how their behaviour can affect other people.

Physical Development

Indoor and outdoor activities help children strengthen their balance, coordination, control and stamina. Running, climbing, dancing, building, drawing and using tools develop the gross and fine motor skills needed for self-care, early writing and everyday tasks.

Literacy

Children develop a love of books, stories, poems and rhymes. They begin to recognise sounds and letters, understand that print carries meaning, talk about stories and characters, and practise early writing through drawing, mark-making and forming letters.

Mathematics

Children explore numbers, counting, patterns, shapes, measures and simple problem-solving through play and daily routines. They compare quantities, recognise numerals, count objects, explore addition and subtraction, and use mathematical language such as “more,” “fewer,” “longer,” “heavier” and “next to.”

Understanding the World

Children learn about their families, communities, cultures and the natural world. Through investigations, outdoor learning, technology and practical experiences, they explore change, growth, similarities, differences and how things work.

Expressive Arts and Design
Music, dance, role play, painting, modelling and creative activities allow children to express their ideas and imagination. They experiment with colours, textures, sounds and materials, create their own designs and develop confidence in show
ing their work with others.
